Melbourne Basket Brigade Packing Day
It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas.
Last year our club once again supported the Melbourne Basket Brigade's Packing Day and we are looking for volunteers again this year.
We manned a BBQ, including the sausages and bread for a "sizzle" that fed 200 volunteers involved in the packing of food and toy hampers for some 450 under-privileged families. Our contribution brought in some $800 to the cause.
It would be great if some of our Rotarians and friends could spare the time to either help with the wrapping of the presents or helping me with the "sizzling".
If you are able to help with the sizzling, you would be needed between (about) 9:30 until 1 o'clock .
If you or (and) your family would like to help with the packing, then the drill is for you help with the packing from 9 until about 1 pm at which time you will be given a route of 3-5 family destinations to deliver the hampers. You're likely to be through with your deliveries by about 2:30pm.
I can tell you that the experience of helping others who are very much less fortunate than ourselves is simply amazing! Moreover, the "vibes" you'll experience in the packing hall - with whole families all pulling together to wrap and gather these "goodies" and groceries is so infectious and inspiring.
You will please need to register by clicking here - regardless of whether you're packing/delivering, or "sizzling"
The venue is Xavier College, Kostka Hall Campus - 47 South Rd, Brighton Beach, VIC. You'll need to turn into New Street to reach the entrance to the hall where the packing activities are held.
I'd be grateful if you could let me know if you're able to help.
See you there,
