Martin Reports - Final word on  OGAKI STUDENTS VISIT 2018

I have received a wonderful report regarding the Ogaki City’s Students’ Exchange Program.

Mie Yoshiyasu from Ogaki International Exchange Association told us that the visit was the most successful event.  She was very grateful to the R/C of Glen Eira, and I would like to express my sincere thanks to you.  I am preparing the report for the next meeting & looking forward to telling the members as follows;-

I would like to tell you wonderful news.

As I am one of the directors of OIEA, I would like to report on the students exchange program to the City of Glen Eira, Australia.

As you all know, the City of Glen Eira & the City of Ogaki have Friendly City Link.  It was due for the Ogaki Students to visit a school in Glen Eira this year, however the school we usually send our children to,  notified us that they could no longer accept the students.

At this stage, we did not know where & how to find the solution.  Fortunately we met some Rotarians from Glen Eira at the Ogaki City’s Centennial Celebrations, & they kindly offered help.

After the Rotarians’s great efforts, the school which initially declined to take our students decided to accept them.  Not only some Rotarians offered their homes as there were short of host families, the R/C of Glen Eira gave the students a big welcome BBQ party!  As the result, During their stay, the delegate had such amazing experiences & arrived home with wonderful memories.

This is all because our friendship between our club & R/C of Glen Eira has been established  in the positive way.  I would like to express my sincere thanks to the members of R/C of Glen Eira.

Mitsuo Ando

President R/C of Ogaki West.

Taste of Brazil

Roberto, Carla and family cooked up a storm as part of the celebration to welcome Brazilian Youth Exchange Student,  Jade Reis Costa to Australia. Guest were treated to a delicious selection of authentic Brazilian cuisine.  Many thanks to the Rotary Club of Bentleigh – Moorabbin Central for arranging the evening.

Have you got some spare time on Tuesday, why not come along to Rotary Donations In Kind?

Rotary Donations In Kind is a major recycling operation, run by volunteers, that gives suitable goods to people in need, for free.

The West Footscray Store is part of the National Rotary Donations In Kind Store network, which is Rotary Australia’s largest ongoing project and the West Footscray Store is the largest in Victoria.

A Donations In Kind (DIK) project is often the most practical and cost effective way to help people in developing countries and it also provides excellent opportunities to help local communities.

It provides Rotarians, the Public and Corporate Sector with the chance to make a meaningful difference in the lives of people who need our help

There is an opportunity for everyone no matter where they are located or the time available, to get involved and make a difference.

Alan and Martin will be going to DIK on Tuesday 4th Sept.  Let them know if you would like to go along.
